Guatemala Crusade

April 28th, 2009

It has been five years since there has been a national conference in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Excitement and anticipation is building as thousands across Guatemala are preparing for the special conference held Sunday, May 3rd. Multiple services on Sunday will meet the various needs of the church, but the highlight of the day will be the four o’clock evangelistic service. Rev. Brad Thompson, Missionary to Guatemala, told me that they are expecting more than 7000 people to attend the service. Included in this number is an expected 1500 first-time guests. In addition, there could be as many as 1000 (or more) baptized believers attending who have not yet been filled with the Holy Ghost! We have a goal of at least 700 receiving the Holy Ghost, but we could easily see an outpouring of the Holy Ghost that matches the Day of Pentecost!

I have had the privilege of being mentored by Rev. Billy Cole. I have seen him conduct Holy Ghost crusades in both the U.S. and abroad. The greatest Holy Ghost outpouring that I have ever witnessed was in Ethiopia in 1994. The verified number filled with the Holy Ghost was over 78,000! I will never forget that day! It put a dream in my heart that I would witness that kind of harvest in my own ministry.

I recently visited with Billy Cole along with six other preachers. I was reminded of his love for souls and desire to pass on his expertise to others. I wept as both Billy and Shirley Cole prayed over us. It brought back a lot of memories. I remembered the time when I was on the platform with over 20 preachers in Ethiopia at the headquarters church just before he prayed the prayer for the Holy Spirit to fill the seekers there that afternoon. With tears in his eyes he said to me, “You will do this!” I felt the impact of those prophetic words then, but I am about to fulfill those words now! Thanks, Billy Cole for believing in so many of us younger men and imparting so much spiritual knowledge to our generation. I pray I am as good a student as you have been a teacher.

For those of you who desire to partner with us in prayer, here is a list of prayers to agree upon with our team:

  1. Pray for traveling mercies for our team both to Guatemala and in Guatemala.
  2. Pray for the safe arrival of the saints and guests coming to the meeting.
  3. Pray that we will have favor with city officials as we conduct this meeting.
  4. Pray for protection from disease and sickness.
  5. Pray that God will help us reap the maximum harvest.

We look forward to sharing the good news after this crusade is over. Remember, your prayers and support make these trips happen. When you join your faith and finance with our ministry you share in the harvest. Blessings!

Getting Into the Rhythm of Spring

April 7th, 2009

The weather was perfect last week and provided me a great opportunity to do some work outdoors. This time of year gives us so many reasons to hope. As we finish the first quarter of 2009 and welcome spring into our lives, there are so many things to see and hear. Trees, bushes, and flowers are budding and blooming. The birds are singing and doing happy dances as they eat the seeds from our feeders. Of course, the squirrels are there too, eating as much as they can steal away from the birds.

As I was cleaning up one of the flower beds, I stumbled upon a nest of four baby rabbits. It was quite a surprise. Julianna squealed as she looked at the little balls of fur. It put smiles on all our faces. There is so much life all around us waiting to be discovered and enjoyed, all of which I would not have observed if I were inside.

I cleaned up the back patio, throwing out cracked and moldy pots and scrubbing others worth keeping. Then, for the part I had been dreading, I built a retaining wall to prevent future buildup of mud and debris. Though it was hard work, I got into a great rhythm. Next, I put in new edging around the flower beds and finally, I added fresh mulch. It ended up taking five full days to finish the task but I enjoyed every minute of it.

Because so much of what I do is spiritual work and not visible, it was very rewarding to see the backyard transform, especially after Kimberly added the fresh flowers. What started off as just another mundane to-do list ended up adding tremendous value to my life. God knew just what I needed. While I witnessed spring happening all around me, I heard its music and I got into its rhythm—the rhythm of renewal, awakening, and transformation. As a result, I experienced a spring in my heart and spirit.

I want you too to sing a new song and have your own time of renewal. I pray that God will visit you with a spring time in your soul. May He clean out all the debris of worry, doubt, and fear that produces discord in your life. May His Word build a strong retaining wall of truth and love in your heart to keep those toxic emotions from causing chaos in you. May faith sing joyful songs as you start your week.

Most of all, may the soil of your soul bring forth the good fruit of a life blessed by living in His presence. Get in the rhythm and get some spring in your step!

“Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. Sing unto the Lord a new song” (Isaiah 42:9-10a).

Sit Still!

April 7th, 2009

I was anxious and wanting answers, as usual. My wish list, worry list, and faith confessions were all lined up but not in the correct order. I came to my prayer closet, which this week was the recently refreshed back patio.

I settled into the glider for a time of prayer. After a season of worship and thanksgiving, I started in on my wish and worry lists. It was then that I’m pretty sure I heard Him sigh.

“Kimberly, Kimberly, I already know your worries and wishes. Why don’t you just sit still? Sit still and listen to Me. Sit still and take in the beauty of My world. Sit still and receive My peace. Sit still and let Me refresh your tired spirit. Sit still and focus your direction. Sit still and let Me tell you my heart.” And I did.

If you sit still today, what will He tell you?

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
